Assistant Brewer

What is your job role? How long have you been there?

I’m one of the two brewers in our small team. Nowadays I help look after most aspects of our production, but in the 3+ years I’ve been here I would say the most important aspect is the coffee. If you come to work on a Monday with bad coffee game you know the rest of the week is going to suck.


What’s the best and worst part of your role?

The best part for me is taking a recipe and turning it into a beer, I love the method of production, I find the whole scientific process fascinating.

The worst part is, without question, when my boss decides he wants to listen to the frozen soundtrack in the brewery. (Note from ‘the boss’ Frozen is a freaking classic of our time!)


What is your spirit animal and why?

It’s hard to describe, sort of half way between a bat and a salmon, with the legs of a crocodile. Like an angry sausage dog with the body of a salmon and bat wings.


Favourite work Tunes?

Depends on the mood of the day really, but I can’t think of a genre we haven’t listened to. Anything from Beethoven to classic rock to electronic, except Nickelback, they have a lifetime ban.


Favourite beer style?

Strong stouts. Doesn’t have to be impy strength, as long as it’s delicious. Or banana nesquik.
